SECURITY
It only makes sense to be concerned about the security of your
accounts. Rest assured that at StraightLine, we remain steadfastly
diligent in our responsibility to ensure the security of your financial
information.
ACCOUNT ACCESS
By electing to use our service, your employee agrees to share with
us their current user name and password for the limited and secure
purpose of repositioning the investments in their account. We fully understand
that you may be concerned about your employees' disclosure of this
personal information and offer the following for your peace of mind.
While each 401(k) plan provider is different, most follow a strict set
of security procedures to ensure the safety of your employees' accounts.
These procedures are in place to ensure that unauthorized withdrawals
and beneficiary changes are not possible. Some of your provider's procedures
may include:
- Following up online requests for disbursements or beneficiary change
with a phone call to verify the request.
- Confirming that bank account owner information matches the retirement
account owner before a disbursement is made.
- Requiring written documentation, delivered by postal mail to the address
of record, of a request for disbursement or change of beneficiary.
Essentially, there is no way for us to remove funds because we are not
the account owners. However, for your own peace of mind, we encourage you
to check with your own 401(k) plan provider to see what their security
safeguards are. Be assured, StraightLine takes every precaution to ensure
the security and confidentiality of your employee’s accounts.
OUR SECURITY MEASURES
Customer Access to Account Information
No matter how you contact StraightLine—via website, e-mail, or phone—we
verify your identity before granting you access to your accounts.
Firewalls & Encryption
To block unauthorized access, all of our computer systems are protected
by firewalls. Firewalls are electronic barriers that prevent unauthorized
access to our networks. Furthermore, StraightLine employs some of
the strongest methods of encryption commercially available today.
Employee Access to Customer Information
Just as we limit physical access to our work areas, we also restrict
electronic access to systems containing customer data. Only employees who
need the information to perform a specific job (for example, a billing
clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to nonpublic
personal information.
Employee Education
StraightLine employees receive thorough training on our security policy
and are held accountable for adhering to that policy. Every quarter our
employees receive additional education emphasizing the importance we
place on privacy and security, and what they can do to ensure our clients
are steadfastly protected.
